Privacy
Glimmerstone is a small pet game for friends and playtesters, run by one person. This page lists what the game keeps about you and why.
Who can play
Glimmerstone is for players 13 and older. If you're younger, please don't make an account.
What the game keeps
- Your username and password. The password is stored hashed, so nobody can read it, the admin included. Your Starstone recovery code is hashed the same way.
- Your Glimlings and your play: Glimmers, items, scores, dailies, brawls, trades, auctions, friends and story progress.
- What you write: your profile, Glimling pages, Pigeon Post letters, guestbook notes, reports and Feedback notes, plus any screenshot you attach.
- With a Feedback note, the page you were on, phone or computer, screen size, browser name and recent page errors, so the bug can be found.
- Log-ins: the IP address and a random device id each time you log in. They show when one person runs several accounts to pass Glimmers between them.
- Visits: when you were on the site, how many pages you opened and the last page you saw. The admin uses this to see how the game gets played.
Cookies and browser storage
gp_sidkeeps you logged in for 30 days.gp_devis a random device id set when you log in. It lasts two years, and the log-in page keeps a copy in your browser's local storage.- Your browser also remembers a few settings, like whether music is on. Those stay on your device.
There are no tracking or ad cookies.
What the game doesn't do
- It never asks for your email address.
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking scripts. Every page, font and picture comes from Glimmerstone's own server.
- Nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
Who sees it
The admin can see everything above except your password. Other players see what the game shows them: your profile, Glimlings, guestbook, scores and stall.
The game runs on a rented Google Cloud server, and the database is backed up every 6 hours. The server keeps the last 28 copies (about a week), and the admin can copy one to their own computer.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings, choose "Delete my account" at the bottom, and enter your password. Your account locks and disappears from the town right away. A week later it's deleted for good: your Glimlings, items, Glimmers, profile, letters people sent you, log-ins and visits. If you change your mind, log in during that week and it's canceled.
A few things other players already have stay, signed "a former player" instead of your name: letters you sent them, notes in their guestbooks, finished trades, auctions and stall sales, and lines in Around Glimmeria and the Gazette. Your username is held for 30 days, then anyone can take it. Copies in the backups disappear as the backups roll over, within about a week.
